The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will be the 13th annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and will take place in Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria on 21 November 2015. This will be the first time that the Bulgarian national broadcaster, Bulgarian National Television (BNT), are organising an Eurovision event. Seventeen countries have confirmed their participation, with Australia and Ireland making their début at the 2015 contest.Albania and Macedonia will return after being absent since the 2012 and 2013 contests respectively. Croatia andCyprus will be withdrawing after returning in the 2014 edition, while Sweden will be withdrawing for the first time since 2008.

On 7 October 2015, it was confirmed that seventeen countries will take part in the contest. Australia and Irelandwill make their debut, Albania will return after a two-year absence and Macedonia will return after a one-year absence. Croatia and Cyprus will be withdrawing after returning in the 2014 edition, while Sweden will be withdrawing for the first time since 2008. It will be the first time since 2007, that 17 countries will take part

Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria, and boasts a history spanning over 2,400 years. The city is located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the western part of the country, and the mountain can be visible in spectacular fashion from the city on clear days.

Many of the major universities, cultural institutions and commercial companies of Bulgaria are concentrated in Sofia, which has a population of around 1,291,895 people. It was declared as the capital of Bulgaria in 1879.
